Who is AlasKat?

I’m a 25 year old, California born and raised, Alaskan transplant. I love reading, watching movies, fishing, camping, and generally anything that involves the outdoors. My fiancé and I have been together for almost 5 years now. Our biggest dream has always been to move to Alaska, and in 2009 our wildest dreams came true! We packed up everything we owned and headed for the great white north. We’ve been here over a year now and we couldn’t be any happier, there’s no place on Earth we’d rather be.

We have two dogs (Brody and Sadie) who are perfectly content as long as they can be wherever we are. We love to spend what little free time we have together fishing and enjoying the great Alaskan wilderness. We’ll use any excuse we have to be on the river, with a line in the water.

I’m a low maintenance kind of girl, I have no problems throwing on a hat and heading out the door to go fishing or just for a day of fun. When we’re not fishing, I spend most of my time working. I work for an amazing company, and I have an incredible boss, who spoils me beyond all belief.

I believe that everything in life (both good and bad) happens for a reason and if we do not learn what life is here to teach us, we are destined to continue repeating the same mistakes. I’m always up for a good book or movie suggestion, so if you have any, send them my way. I started this blog as an outlet of expression and also because I haven’t had the time to write in my journals for a few years now (damn school and work) and I missed writing, so I figured what better way to take down my thoughts and ideas than to start a blog. I love all things blog and I’m addicted to reading new blogs. I’m relatively new to the blogging scene, so any tips or suggestions you want to send my way, please feel free. If you want to know more about me, don’t be afraid to ask.

  1. Okay, so here’s the thing. I’m TOTALLY coming to visit you in Alaska. Many of my nights of raging insomnia are spent Googling Alaskan cruises. Which is totally random, right? But… have you SEEN the photos? I mean GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS.
